Forsyth's Forsythia Festival
starts a weekend of arts and crafts, tournaments, a 5K run, street
dance and parade. Georgia's Antique Trail includes much of Monroe
County. You'll find American, English and French period furniture,
antique jewelry, silver, glassware and a variety of collectibles.
In
addition to public education, private education is available.
The Monroe County school system includes Hubbard
Primary School, Hubbard Elementary School, Monroe County Middle
School, Mary Persons High School and Monroe CrossRoads Academy. Monroe
Academy, in Forsyth, provides a college preparatory curriculum. Macon
State College is part of the University System of Georgia. Mercer
University is near downtown Macon. Others include Wesleyan College,
Gordon College and Macon Technical Institute.
Health care
facilities include Monroe County Hospital, the Medical Center of
Central Georgia, the Monroe County Mental Health Clinic and several
nursing homes |

staffed emergency center is open 24 hours a day. There are several
excellent nursing homes in the area.
